New anime started from Jan/2023.
This is the 2nd season of the anime adaptation of the original manga, which 1st season ran from Jul-Dec/2019 (24 episodes).
Set in 11th century Iceland, the epic depicts the Viking offensive and defense, with Vinland referring to the North American lands settled by the Vikings, and the main character Thorfinn is also modeled after the existential figure Thorfinn Karlsefni Thorðarson (a merchant and explorer).
The 1st season depicts the conflict between Denmark and England (episodes 1-54 of the original manga), and this 2nd season begins with the main character Thorfinn, who has lost his attachment to life, becoming a slave and working as a farmer. If we assume that the entire slave chapter of the original manga (episodes 55-99) is depicted in the 2nd season, the story will continue to unfold over 24 episodes in 6 months from here.
From the beginning, the atmosphere gives heavy and serious feeling as the previous season.
The production was changed from WIT STUDIO ("Attack on Titan") to MAPPA ("Jujutsu Kaisen"), but the director Yabuta Shuhei("Inuyashiki":Director) and the composition by Seko Hiroshi("BANANA FISH": Screenplay & Composition) remain unchanged, and the voice casts Uemura Yuto("Bungou Stray Dogs ":Nakajima Atsushi), Ono Kensho("Kuroko's Basketball":Kuroko Tetsuya), Otsuka Akio("GHOST IN THE SHELL":Batô) and others remain unchanged from the previous season, while Takeuchi Shunsuke("FROZEN 2":Olaf), Sako Mayumi and Komatsu Fuminori("JoJo's Bizarre Adventure": Jean Pierre Polnareff) will play new characters from this season.
