Animated from manga.
The story is based on classical ballet and depicts the struggles of a high school boy who aspires to become a danseur-noble (a male lead role of a female prima ballerina).
The production of the animation was made with the help of motion capture of actual ballerinas, and the detailed depiction of the tips of the hands and feet was done while listening to the ballerinas.
But more than that, the psychological portrayal of an adolescent boy's devotion to ballet, overcoming his feelings of shame and the temptations of his surroundings, is carefully drawn and very realistic.
