Anime movie released from Jul/2021, an original film without an original story.
Hosoda Mamoru, who had been emphasizing family love since "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars," seems to have returned to his roots. I enjoyed the SEKAIKAN(worldview) of fantasy and daily life with full of entertainment.
The story is about a protagonist in rural Japan who is unable to express herself through songs, but becomes a diva in a virtual space and solves problems in that space and incidents that occur in the real world.
In addition to the directors and staff members who are regulars in Hosoda Mamoru's works, the film also invited members from overseas to design the characters in the virtual space. Jin Kim, who designed the main characters for "Tangled" and "FROZEN," Ludvig Forssell ("Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes," "Super Smash Bros. ), and production designer Eric Wong. designed Belle, the main character in the virtual space, looks like a Disney princess, and that makes me remind of "Beauty and the Beast".
I personally like the content of the film, which is a revival of the Hosoda world of "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars.
I also thought it was a very innovative way of making an idea conceived by a Japanese person and visualized on a global scale, and I thought it was very good in terms of its characteristics as a one-shot (one episode long) animation film that can be enjoyed by people all over the world.
Anyway, the music was so wonderful.
