When you se e the name Kazuki Nakajima(of Gekidan Shinkansen) as composition/screenplay, you may strongly remind of "GURREN LAGANN" produced by GAINAX or "Kill la Kill" produced by TRIGGER, but this time work is done by studio VOLN ("Karakuri Circus"), and the character designs have a rather smart touch. First of all, I wondered if I would be able to get used to this, which was not at all an obstacle as a result.
The story is about people from outside the "wall" who suddenly arrive in a peaceful village and transform into humanoid robots when they put a ring on their arms. The story itself, as expected from Nakajima's screenplay, is fast-paced from the beginning and keeps you on your toes.
Also, missmatch that the story takes place in a Western-style village and the enemy forces have an original Chinese flavor, similar to that of the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" series, gives us very fresh view.
