Anime started from October 2024. Although it's a new production, the original manga is the well-known blockbuster by Takahashi Rumiko published from 1987 to 1996 with 38 volumes. It was previously adapted into an anime, with the first season airing from April to September 1989 (18 episodes) and the second season, "Nettouhen," from October 1989 to September 1992 (143 episodes) and OVAs futherly.
But that time , the anime never hadn't covered the entire manga.
This time, new adaptation features a completely new production team.
Recently, another of Takahashi Rumiko's works, "Urusei Yatsura," was remade, maintaining the original manga style with a pastel tone and an entirely new voice cast.
In contrast, this new version of "Ranma 1/2" retains the main voice cast from about 35 years ago but changes the art style significantly, using delicate lines for character design.
Though imagined that the new art style might feel out of place compared to the original manga, it didn't seem too jarring. Instead, it was striking how the voice actors, despite being the same, now carry strong associations with other famous roles they've taken on over the past 35 years. However, as episodes go, those voices will likely become synonymous with these characters once again.
