The story is a dark fantasy set in samurai era, centering on a criminal ninja who cannot die and a female samurai from a family of executioners, who together with other criminals and executioners, seek an elixir of immortality on an island of paradise.
The long-awaited anime adaptation of the manga, which has been highly acclaimed since its serialization for its drawing ability and expressive power, is now available. Although I was concerned about how the anime style would evolve from the original manga which had many drawing lines, the depiction of the characters and the action is excellent. The vivid colors that suddenly appear in the monotone scenes are also cool.
