New anime starting in January 2024.
It is the anime adaptation of a famous manga, distinct from the TV series (October 1981 - March 1986) + 6 theatrical films and 12 OVAs that were adapted when the manga being serialized.
Both are differentiated as the "1981 version anime" and the "2022 version anime". The 2022 anime completed its first season (October 2022 - March 2023, 23 episodes) and is now in its second season for the current period.
The previous season gave the impression of faithfully and energetically adapting selected parts of the original manga (total 34 volumes), and it seems the current season will continue in the same manner.
Having watched episodes 1-2 (numbered #24-25 consecutively), we can enjoy watching while reminiscing about the original manga.
There are no changes in the production team and voice cast from the previous season.
