The story depicts the liberation of the mind of a girl who has closed her mind after the accidental death of her brother, and the world of her mind is depicted as a fantastic musical world. Deemo is a pianist who appears in the world with a pitch-black appearance and doesn't speak a word.
The graphics of the characters are mostly motion-captured, giving the viewer the feeling of watching a virtual Youtuber's video rather than an anime.
The "music," which constitutes the main part of the story, is carefully crafted around the piano and is composed by Kajiura Yuki(theme music) and Akegatagawa Sr. and Jr.(representatives of the production company Magic Capsule and sound director). The theme song is sung by hinano, who was selected through an audition.
In terms of animation, the film is a step behind full-fledged animation, but you can immerse yourself in the world as if you were watching a spectacular music video.
Voice casts are Taketatsu Ayana("K-On!":Nakano Azusa), Hamada Gaku, Issey Ogata, Watanabe Naomi, Nibu Akari(from Hinatazaka 46), Kito Akari("Demon Slayer":Kamado Nezuko), Sakura Ayane("Non Non Biyori ":Koshigaya Natsumi), Matsushita Kohei, and Yamadera Koichi("NEON GENESIS EVANGELION":Kaji Ryoji).
