An animated film released in Feb/2022.
The film depicts the memories of 3 high school boys during one summer, and was directed and written by Ishizuka Atsuko, the director of "No Game, No Life" and "A Place Further than the Universe".
The adventure story of 3 boys is reminiscent of the movie "Stand By Me," and yet the characterization of the shy, uniquely Japanese characters makes it possible to watch the film as if it were a proper Japanese movie.
It is a little disappointing that the story of how the 2 childhood friends set up a team, how a boy joins the team, and the refreshing interactions with the girl who appears in the middle of the story were not shown much, but thought we cannot expext that since this is an anime film with limited length.
Thinking of that, movie version of "No Game, No Life" is a continuation of the TV series, and while the TV series "A Place Farther Than Space" took more than 4 hours to tell the story.
Frankly speaking, I was impressed by the difficulty of depicting all of the characters' backgrounds and emotions in about 100 minutes of an animated film.
Furthermore, the high-tempo, fast-moving background music and theme song (ALEXANDROS: Rock The World).
Hanae Natsuki who has a unique voice, and Murase Ayumu, Kaji Yuki, and Hanazawa Kana, who can change into various voices, had a great chemistry with each other, and the theme song at the end was just wonderful.
The production team includes MADHOUSE("BLACK LAGOON"), director/scriptwriter Ishizuka Atsuko("A Place Further than the Universe":Director), character designer Yoshimatsu Takahiro("OVERLOAD":Character Design & Chief Animation Director), and voice actors Hanae Natsuki("Demon Slayer":Kamado Tanjiro), Kaji Yuki("Attack on Titan":Eren Yeager), Murase Ayumu("Black Clover":Luck Voltia), Hanazawa Kana("Bakemonogatari":Sengoku Nadeko).
